To explain
the King of the Nomes we must first start with the nomes
themselves. Now the nomes are earth creatures, made of pure rock
and can move through the rock at will. To them, rock it like water and they
flow through it freely. They dwell deep in the earth and listen closely to
their leader, the Nome King. It is hard to imagine how such beautiful pieces
of art can come from such horrific looking creatures. They create all
of the precious stones and metals that are through the land of Oz. This
includes all Emeralds, Rubies, Diamonds, etc. He felt that all of the
Emeralds in the Emerald City really belonged to him, (and all jewels for
that matter). So he was vengeful against the Emerald City as
well as its inhabitants for stealing his treasures.
But he never took charge over the Emerald City for he
feared Oz’s former ruler the “Powerful Wizard of Oz”
(who Dorothy found out was not so powerful). He was not
that powerful of a magician until one day when Dorothy clicked her heals
to go home, the Ruby Slippers fell off, and they landed on the Nome Kings
Mountain.

When he found the
slippers he felt they belonged to him because they were made out of HIS
rubies. And the slippers were what made the Nome King a powerful
Magician. He then used his new-found
power to conceive an army, which consisted of a local Witch and a gang of
Wheelers. This combination let him to concur the Emerald City.
His army kidnapped the King of Oz, the Scarecrow, and locked him deep into
the Nome Kings Mountain.
The King then took
back all of his precious Emeralds and started turning people who guarded
them into stone. And he noticed that after each person he turned to stone…
the more human-like he got. So in an obsession to become human he
started turning everyone in sight into stone. Until their was no one
left who remembered Oz except….Dorothy Gale, and one day he knew she would
RETURN TO OZ.
